Verity cover

Misleading Miss Verity was a little difficult for me to get into, but once I did, I could not put it down.  So I will give it a 4.5 out of 5 stars.  Miss Verity is a viscount’s daughter from England.  She is mischievous and does not behave like a ‘lady’ should in 1820.  She is considered a ‘mistake’ by her parents and feels most unloved.  When she is found riding a horse, even though it was on their property, she gets shipped to Grandmama’s home.  It then becomes known through a letter that Verity is to be betrothed to a man she has no wants to be with, so Grandmama sends her to Scotland to Verity’s school friend, Helena.  Across from them, the new viscount has moved in and Verity and Mr. Jardine become friends, if not more.  With the betrothal looming close, will Verity’s parents find her?  If they do, will Mr. Jardine come to her rescue?  Will Anthony Jardine and Verity be able to have a life together?  All of this and more will be answered as you read this book!

Verity Hatherleigh has a mind of her own—but her actions do not impress her viscount papa. When she gets into one scrape too many, he sends her off to the wilds of Scotland to rethink her headstrong ways.
Anthony Jardine relished his role as curate, but his new duties as laird of Dungally aren’t always to his liking. Though he thought his new inheritance would be a blessing, somehow he’s finding nothing but trouble on these estates. And the intelligent, compassionate, feisty lass who was sent to rusticate in his territory is one of the biggest problems. He’s falling in love with her, but she doesn’t share the faith that’s his foundation—not to mention he’s been lying to her about who he really is. For the truth-loving Verity, that may be unforgivable.
The tangled web these two have woven may spell disaster for their happiness—and for the tenants of Dungally.
