PROPHETIC FORECAST

Author: Joshua Giles

Reviewer: Cris Hoxie

Review:  I was not impressed with this book at all.  I did not get very far and ended up skimming through it.  If I could give a minus star, I would.  With that said, yes, I believe in prophecy, but what Joshua Giles is saying about prophecy mostly I don’t.  This is not a recommended book.  I have other reasons, too, which will not be said publicly.  This is a teaching about prophecy and what is coming and how to do it.  My saying is go to the Bible instead.

Synopsis:  An unprecedented shaking is underway in the systems and nations of this earth. But even as the world churns with upheaval, you can stand firm. Through biblical teaching and sound prophetic insight, pastor and prophet Joshua Giles will help you discover God’s plans and strategies to prepare for the unusual and uncertain times ahead. Here is everything you need to align with heaven’s agenda, overcome fear of the future, find your purpose and thrive amid the change.

BENEATH THE BENDING SKIES

Author: Jane Kirkpatrick

Reviewer: Cris Hoxie

Review:  This was a very slow reading, as it did not capture my attention.  I ended up forcing myself to read this book for this review.  This is about Mollie, who has been going through a very dysfunctional family life.  Her childhood is very sad.  As she gets older, romance sparks with Peter, whom her father disapproves of.  Will she deny her father and follow her heart, or continue to be dominated by her father?  You will need to read this book to find this out.

Synopsis:  Mollie Sheehan has spent much of her life striving to be a dutiful daughter and honor her father’s wishes, even when doing so has led to one heartbreak after another. After all, what options does she truly have in 1860s Montana? But providing for her stepfamily during her father’s long absences doesn’t keep her from wishing for more.

When romance blooms between her and Peter Ronan, Mollie finally allows herself to hope for a brighter future–until her father voices his disapproval of the match and moves her to California to ensure the breakup. Still, time and providence are at work, even when circumstances are at their bleakest. Mollie may soon find that someone far greater than her father is in control of the course of her life–and that even the command to “honor thy father” has its limits.

THE EAGLE

16 09 2022
The Majestic Eagle

This picture of the flying eagle is so majestic.  Makes me think of a couple scriptures, so let’s talk about the eagle and how we are to be like them.

Psalm 103:5 NASB

Who satisfies your years with good things,
So that your youth is renewed like the eagle.

Your youth is renewed like the eagle.  What is being said here?  How does an eagle renew itself?  There is a process.  After one year, the eagle begins to lose it’s feathers.  First one side, then the other, so it can still forage for food.  New feathers will begin to grow in place of the ones that had come out.  By age 5, that eagle has it’s adult feathers.  That is also when the brown feathers have left and the white for the bald head have come to make it look so majestic.  So what does this have to do with us?  Our youth is renewed like the eagle by losing the sin in our lives and adding more of Abba’s righteousness into our lives – to be more like Him.

Isaiah 40:31 NASB

31 Yet those who wait for the Lord
Will gain new strength;
They will mount up with wings like eagles,
They will run and not get tired,
They will walk and not become weary.

Mount up with wings like eagles.  That sounds nice for an eagle, but we can’t fly – or can we?  Not in the natural, but spiritually we can.  Have you been to a revival and feel like you could fly?  You spirit is.  When you glide like an eagle in the spirit, you don’t get tired or weary.  You can keep on going for the Lord.  Yes, our physical bodies do get tired, but our spirits don’t need to get tired at all.  We can glide with the Lord.  I know.  If I heard someone say this, I would think they were crazy.  But just think about it.  Our spirits are not of this world.  We are a spirit, we have a soul (mind), and we live in a physical body.  But what we really are is a spirit and we need to realize that the spirit is what matters the most.  We need to feed that spirit more than the physical body.  Our spirits need to soar like that majestic eagle.

Today, let’s think on our spirits.  Are we letting it soar, or are we keeping it in the nest?  Are we molting (losing feathers)?  That’s a time to grow my feathers by growing in the Lord by prayer and study.

Have a BLESSED day!
